Don’t you love it when someone means to hurt you and you turn it into a learning experience? Oh what fun! Had this verse thrown in my face today. I love this verse and use it often. So I may as well take it head on!Peanut Butter and Jelly - Living Stones www.LivingStones.church

Matthew 6:2–4 (ESV)
“Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

So upon being called out for my gratuitous Facebook posts on PB&J night, getting reproached for doing the work of Christ on earth, I wanted to give three reasons why I will continue to post this stuff on Facebook!

1. I draw attention to this so that you can share in the joy! I want you to see too.

One of the greatest aspects of our Christian walk is this common joy! I love joy, my world is full of so much pain, I see it in the lives of those that are ministered to by the Word. We have so much trouble in the world around us that the peace of seeing God working can bring us joy, encouragement and passion for our own work for God.

Luke 10:23–24 (ESV)
Then turning to the disciples he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”

Blessed are the eyes that see.

2. I do not brag about helping people to trumpet my own horn… I do it to honk yours and wake you up to the needs of the people around you!

1 Corinthians 6:11 (ESV)
And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Sometimes we need to be reminded that we “used to do it to.” We often get so wrapped up in our lives and our schedules that we fail to return to the very place we found Christ and see if there are any more that need saving! Believe me, if I can find a way to spur you to action I want to do it.

3. I put this out there so that you will see the hypocrisy in the all talk and no action.

James 2:18 (ESV)
But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

The motto of Living Stones is “putting the Gospel in action” and what better way than to be motivated by the Spirit that is at work within us? Part of the process of sanctification is to raise up off the floor of repentance and put our faith in action! Don’t just sit there, don’t just throw money at it, be at work in the ministry of the Word!

Conclusion:
I realize that I can never make everyone happy. I also realize that it may be offensive for me to post a ministry that I am involved in to someone who is (a) not a Christian or (b) under conviction for their action or lack of action in their lives.

So let me be specific. I want you to have the joy of the Lord at work in your life. I want you to become aware to the needs around you. I want you to pick up your hand and put it to the plow and work with me.

Have I missed a point that needs to be made? Are there more scriptures that I could use? Comment and help me expand this thought below.
