“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” (Colossians 2:6–7, ESV)
I love the idea of being rooted… it means that we are a part of something NOT just growing alone but the very field we are growing in is part of who we are. We used to be going at it alone … just us and our sin, now we are in Christ Jesus, we are a part of something bigger. The roots of men go down deep … rather we would be so shallow in our sin or deep in the fertile soil of Christ. 
Taught. This to me has the one room school house mentality of the church. I have a great appreciation for being self taught but there are some great things that come from being taught in community. Students of all levels helping each other and learning together.
Thanksgiving … an act of worship is the result of being rooted in Christ. Ouch. How many days can you go without being rooted.
