It was stressful, the day was crazy, time was short lots to do before eye surgery. We ran around town and got things taken care of and as we pulled up to the hospital I asked, “Would you like me to pray with you?” The answer “Yes” I dove into a prayer that had been on my heart since early that morning. After I prayed, he looked at me and asked, “Mind if I pray?” I bowed my head in response and he started.

“Jesus, walk with me. Amen”

Simple, clear, and to the point. It didn’t matter what WE wanted out of the prayer, what mattered is that Jesus needed to come and do His work in the life and matters at stake. Humbled, I looked at him and said, “Wow, you are right that is all we need.”

He smiled an understanding smile and waved as he walked off into the hospital.

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. (Romans 8:26)

God is good. A lesson learned that will not soon be forgotten.

Jesus, walk with me.

a simple prayer is what we need. clear and to the point.
