To attend or not to attend?

Posted by in Obervations

Q: Should I make my child attend church with me? A: YES!  (with some care and mercy thrown in) Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, when he is old he will not depart from it It is a rule, I am the leader of my family.  And you are correct in assuming I don’t have to assert myself that often because we have left no room to question and when they do we have worked through it in scripture and in practice.  The house…read more

With age wisdom

How do you react to bullies on social media? Do you ignore? Do you attack? Do you just laugh at them? Do you pray for them? Do you read scripture at them? Do you delete/un-follow/unfriend them? Do you respond with a blatant ‘in your face blog post?” 😀 As a pastor dealing with the often “less than desirable people” you both hear people get called and are called quite a lot of unsavory things.  How we react to that in the heat of the moment often reveals areas of our…read more

For the Sake of His Name

Posted by in Hymns, Music

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation! O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation! All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near; Praise Him in glad adoration. Praise to the Lord, who over all things so wondrously reigneth, Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth! Hast thou not seen how thy desires ever have been Granted in what He ordaineth? Praise to the Lord, who hath fearfully, wondrously, made thee; Health hath vouchsafed and, when heedlessly falling, hath…read more

Old Tshirts

So, it happens.  I wear my T-shirts until they are ratty … down right torn to shreds and honestly it does bother me a bit, but I have other things that need to be taken care of.  I wear hand me down clothing from others and friends keep my closet full of Salvation Army clothes and every once and a while I get a new pair of pants if they are on sale. Someone pointed out that I needed to go spend $20 on some new undershirts for myself and…read more
