Quotes on Worship

Posted by in Quotes

If our worship is going to be authentic, it must start with God, never with man. — A.W. Tozer I have been reading a lot on Worship as of late.  Seems some folks have been complaining about Worship music (nothing new eh?) and that it wasn’t going to “fit” them and what they wanted.  Worship is so much bigger than what “we” like or what “we” want.  Anyhow, I have a series of quotes that I put in the Month of February to emphasize worship and the proper posture to…read more

Part 3 in observations from a Pastor’s heart: Why Doesn’t My Kid Want to Come to Church? [Part 1] [Part 2]   Graceless was left to struggle alone in the Slough of Despond. But he kept his face turned toward the distant hills, and even while floundering in the mire — he now and then caught glimpses of the shining light. By and by, he reached the farther side; but there the mire was deep, and his burden was so heavy that he could not climb out. For a long…read more

Rooted

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” (Colossians 2:6–7, ESV)   I love the idea of being rooted… it means that we are a part of something NOT just growing alone but the very field we are growing in is part of who we are.  We used to be going at it alone … just us and our sin, now we are in Christ Jesus, we…read more

Verse: Colossians 3:16-17

Posted by in Devotions, Scripture

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:16-17 Does this sound like our/your church? 1.  Word of God is central to all aspects of the church: A.  Teaching and admonishing in wisdom 1. Folly and a raging heart.

Posted by in Devotions

When a man’s folly brings his way to ruin, his heart rages against the Lord. Proverbs 19:3 It amazes me every day people that blame God for their trouble.  Couple things in this verse stand out to me. Man’s folly: This is man’s doing, his sin, his efforts, his action, not God’s. Man’s way: This is not the way of the righteous and it is NOT God’s way, this is man causing trouble for man’s plans. Man’s ruin:  “Give um enough rope they will hang themselves” was the advice I got as…read more
