When hope feels faint and fragile,
And comfort fades away,
The Lord arises with mercy,
And turns the night to day.
His healing presence finds us,
His kindness breaks the rain,
And in the darkest season,
His light shines out again.

Sometimes a light surprises
Believers while they sing;
It’s Jesus rising near us
With healing in His wings.
When shadows gather round us,
His promises remain;
He brings a season of clear shining
To cheer our hearts again.

In quiet meditation,
We fix our eyes above,
And see anew the wonder
Of God’s redeeming love.
Though troubles fill tomorrow,
We will not be afraid;
The One who holds our future
Will never let us fade.

What waits beyond the sunrise
Can only pass His hand;
The God who clothes the flowers
Still keeps all He has planned.
The ravens find their portion,
The sparrows find their rest;
And surely those He calls His own
Are held and loved and blessed.

If fields should cease their harvest,
If vines no fruit should bear,
If every earthly blessing
Should vanish into air;
Still God remains unchanging,
His faithfulness our song,
And trusting in His goodness,
We’ll praise Him all life long.

Though seasons rise and wither,
Though all around may change
The Lord remains forever,
His love will never fade.
So I will lift my voice up,
And choose my joy again,
For Christ alone is worthy,
My confidence and friend.

Sometimes a light surprises
Believers while they sing;
It’s Jesus rising near us
With healing in His wings.
Through every storm and sorrow,
His grace will still sustain;
He brings a season of clear shining
To cheer our hearts again.

HIS PROMISES REMAIN

Inspired as I read through one of William Cowper’s Hymns “Sometimes a Light Surprises.” That lyric just gave me pause, as I studied through Daniel 3

I’ve been studying in Daniel chapter 3 with Shadrach Meshach and Abednego as they stand before King Nebuchadnezzar. In the dialogue between the enraged King and the three Jewish exiles, there is a line talking about God sparing them from the wrath of the king and then the backup plan is very simple. The “if not” became my heart over the last week of study. No matter what my God is in control and no matter how I understand that or do not understand that God is still in control. Every Blessing every drop of rain even the curses of the heathens again my life all of the glory of God.

Daniel 3:17-18
If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.
